18 Nov RootIO presented at Pixxelpoint 2019
Grassroots Radio, with the RootIO free/open innovation, has joined the 20th Pixxelpoint — Festival of Contemporary Art Practices 2019, which is taking place in Nova Gorica (Slovenia) in these days from 15 to 23 November.
Pixxelpoint is a festival focused on the broad field of exploration of contemporary intermedia production, increasingly based on the interdisciplinary connections of artists with science and new technologies, from the investigation of artificial intelligence, virtual reality, and big data to robotics and advanced software environments. This year edition revolves around crucial questions concerning the relationship between technology, arts, and democracy: How has the role of the (responsible, critical) user of media technologies and mediatised content changed in these two decades? Is reality still truly accessible, let alone to be verified?
Chris Csíkszentmihály, Grassroots Radio’s coordinator, has been invited to the festival in his double guise of artist and researcher. At the festival, Chris, together with Petra Žišt (researcher in the project Alert4You, which is also running through the RootIO infrastructure), have presented RootIO, the technological infrastructure supporting the rise of community radio involved in the Grassroots Radio project, broadcasting a bunch of live transmissions, including a tour of the city in which the festival is happening.
We will be back soon with other exciting news about RootIO and Grassroots Radio. Do not miss the frequency!
