Sfantu Gheorghe: Radio Civic listeners receive free radio sets

In September 2020, as part of the GR Project, the locals from Sfantu Gheorghe village, in the Danube Delta, received free radio sets so that they can listen to the radio shows created for them by community volunteers. In this village, one of the two community radio stations established in Romania broadcasts, Radio Civic Sfantu Gheorghe 89.9 FM.

The geographical isolation of this village, as well as the lack of radio sets, made many of the locals lose the habit of listening to radio shows. Now, having their own community radio station as well as the necessary receivers, we believe that this custom will revive and contribute to the development of communication, transparency and democratization of the commune’s life.

In the image below you can see one of those who received a radio set branded with the project’s logo, the mayor of Sfantu Gheorghe!
